3rd Grade Overview of November/December 2009

In third grade, students have just finished a unit on the school, its surroundings and classroom materials. Students have been learning related vocabulary and structures, as well as finding and describing locations on school maps.

Students at all grades are practicing how to say the date and describe the weather in Spanish daily. Key vocabulary includes: days of the week, months of the year, numbers, and weather words.

Coming soon:

Students will incorporate this vocabulary into daily weather announcements that will be featured on the Bel Aire TV show each morning.

Looking forward in January and February:

Students will be learning about vocabulary related to the neighborhood, community helpers, and resources in and around Tiburon. To wrap up the unit, students will create a book written and labeled in Spanish which describes the resources in Tiburon. Additional activities include correlating songs, interactive dialogues, online exercises and games to further reinforce vocabulary.
